Problem statement

Fantasy Premier League has over 11M active players, but most existing third-party tools cater to hardcore stats-driven managers. They often lack user-friendly design and ignore the large group of casual players who play for fun, banter, and competing with friends. FPLChamp saw a gap in the market for a tool that was easy, fun, and focused on enhancing the joy of playing with friends.

My Contribution

I created FPLChamp’s persona from scratch, leading everything from branding and identity design (logos, color palette, and visual direction) to the full product design lifecycle starting with wireframes and prototyping, through to a fully functional, high-fidelity website and I had accomplished the following:

  • Defined the product vision and positioning.
  • Designed a clean, playful UI that felt intuitive even for light users.
  • Translated user research into feature concepts, focusing on fun highlights and social elements.
  • Balanced usability and delight, ensuring the tool was accessible but engaging.
Estimated Business Impact – Post Revamp
  • Branding: Built a bold, approachable identity to differentiate from stat-heavy competitors.
  • User Research: Conducted online surveys and Reddit discussions to understand pain points of casual players.
  • UX Design: Designed smooth flows for live rankings, league tables, and highlights.
  • Feature Innovation: Introduced unique features such as “Most Hurtful Players”, fun highlights (luckiest manager, most bench points lost), and live mini-league insights.
  • Iterative Design: Maintained a cycle of testing → feedback → iteration, constantly improving the product.

FPLChamp proved that by identifying a gap in user needs and focusing on joy + usability, it’s possible to create a product that stands out in a crowded space. This project allowed me to combine branding, product design, and UX research into a real product that reached thousands of users and kept evolving with them.
